There are a few different types of prides, mostly having to do with how many members there are.
Here is a great chart to show what I mean.I'll be using the terms from the chart to describe the prides.
The Mountainlands - Intaba PrideThe Intaba Pride lives in the mountains north of the Pridelands. This is a family pride, led by the mother and father of the cubs. There are only two cubs at this point; one of them is a teen and the other is still a young cub.
They keep to themselves for the most part, trying to stay neutral in all affairs. They also don't ask for help, being notoriously proud. They might expand and become a small kingdom pride if only they would allow some rogue lionesses into the mix. There's not a terribly large amount of food in the mountains, but there's enough to get by.
These lions are thin and lithe, and they have dull, sort of dark pelts.
The Riverlands - Amanzi PrideThese lands are located to the east of the Pridelands. The Amanzi Pride is a large kingdom pride, which has the King and Queen, but also some lionesses with mates and cubs of their own.
This pride is thriving, despite the threat of the crocodiles and hippos that share their lands. They are friendly to outsiders, which some might consider foolish. They don't generally pick sides, much like the Intaba Pride, but in a pinch they choose sides with whoever offers the most help to them. Some might call them selfish because of that, but really they're just trying to look after themselves.
These lions are strong and well-fed, with medium frames, well suited for swimming. There are a variety of pelt colors.
The Pridelands - Ndona PrideThe Pridelands are located in the center of all the kingdoms. The Ndona Pride is a small kingdom pride, with the King and Queen and a few lionesses. However, the royal family doesn't mind allowing the lionesses to take mates and have cubs of their own, so they may turn into a large kingdom pride in time.
The Ndona Pride is thriving thanks to Mohatu's wisdom. Ahadi hopes to continue his father's legacy and keep the land healthy and happy. However, there was a clan of hyenas in the Pridelands that Mohatu banished for poaching. They are bitter, of course, and surely plotting revenge.
The lions here have round or square faces and lighter pelt colors, but there are a few darker ones as well.
The Greenlands - Amashwa PrideTo the west of the Pridelands lies an ever-green land, full of prey. It sounds like paradise, but the grass doesn't grow tall and it's too green to blend well with.
The Amashwa Pride is a small kingdom pride, with Uru's parents leading and her sisters and a few unrelated lionesses helping to hunt. They welcome friendly outsiders with some suspicion, but they take all the help they can get when it comes to hunting. Uru's parents have starting thinking about marrying one of their other daughters to a rogue and keeping him in the pride.
These lions are generally gaunt and angular. There are more lighter-colored lions than darker.
The Desertlands - Rogue PridesSouth of the Pridelands lies a large desert. Rogues and bachelors tend to congregate here, forming small prides of three or four.
There's not a terribly large amount of food here, so the lions are thin, no matter what body type they have. Many are seeking prides that will take them in.
Neutral Ground - Hyena ClanIn the Elephant Graveyard is a group of hyenas. They're hungry and angry creatures led by a matriarch. They'll eat just about anything in order to survive and will attack most lions that come into their territory.
Starting a PrideThe only place anyone can start a pride is in the desert, and even then the pride will likely disband due to lack of resources. Most prides in the desert are made of bachelor lions who have been banished or exiled from their prides. They group together in order to hunt and protect each other. There are usually only three to five in such a pride. If you want to make one, you can name it what you want, but keep in mind that it's likely to disband after a few seasons.
